Library Services and Policies
Library Card Requirements:
As a resident of the Lower Umpqua Library District, you may obtain a free library card. You must show a government issued photo ID with current address. If you do not have this, please talk to staff about what is acceptable ID. Out of district or temporary cards are available at a cost of $30.00/year. Parents must sign for minor children to obtain a card, and are responsible for all fees accrued. If your card is lost or stolen, please notify the library immediately.

Library Services:
Books, audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines are available for checkout. Recently expanded sections include World Languages (materials in Spanish, Chinese, and other languages!), Pacific Northwest, Classics, and Anime/Animation. Patrons can also access electronic items (through Library2Go/Overdrive), as well as public computers, hotspots, a printer/copier, and Wi-Fi printing. Printing and copying is $.15 for each printed side. The library’s Wi-Fi is on 24/7 and extends out to the parking lot. Various databases are on the website www.luld.org. Numerous programs are offered for all ages. The conference room is available to the public, check with staff for details.

Checkout Policies:
Your library card must be presented to check out library materials. There is a limit of 25 items per card with an inclusive limit of 10 DVDs.
Overdue Fines and Fees:
An overdue item accrues a charge of $.15/day with a maximum fee of $2.00/item. An account with fees over $5.00 will be blocked. If an item is lost or damaged, the charge is the cost of the item plus a $5.00 processing fee. Talk to staff about replacing a lost or damaged item (in-kind donation). Lost card replacement fee is $2.00. By signing your (or your child’s) application for a library card, you are assuming responsibility for the account. Failure to return items on time, or to pay for lost and/or damaged items, denies the public access to those library materials. In an effort to protect public library funds we have enlisted the services of a collection agency to help resolve delinquent accounts.
The Lower Umpqua Library is part of the Passport program. (10 Item Limit)
